Rich Barone, Director of Transportation Programs at Regional Plan Association, stopped by OpenPlans to talk about his work at RPA and the future of the region’s infrastructure.
RPA recently published Upgrading to World Class: The Future of the Regions Airports”. The report looks to ways for growth and improved service at the region’s airports – JFK, LaGuardia and Newark. Weighing in at 160 pages – its a great read and a sturdy addition to RPA’s formidable library of planning texts.
Beyond airports, Rich’s knowledge of transportation and planning issues in the tri-state region runs deep. From ESA, SAS,
ARC, PATH, LGA, EWK, JFK to the Pulaski Skyway, NYC and the surrounding region’s upcoming projects are creeping to completion or back to the drawing board with some great backstories as to why, why not and how. Rich knows it all and he left us all in awe. Thanks for taking the time out to stop by. And special mention to RPA, celebrating its 75th year.
Who speaks at OpenBag? Anyone who is engaged in transportation, programming, mapping, diagramming, public space and urban issues and is taking the creative steps to push their respective field forward. Or just anyone who is doing something we think is interesting – being that we’re all nerds here, it tends to be tech, planning or transit related.
