Mark Gorton speaks at “Pavement Politics: Times Square and the Changing Face of New York’s Streets” 9/19 @ 7pm

 

This program will give an overview of the history of public space advocacy in New York City in the context of the recent pedestrian-oriented redesign of Times Square. OpenPlans Founder and Chairman Mark Gorton will join Ethan Kent, Vice President of the Project for Public Spaces, Gwendolyn Wright, professor of architecture at Columbia University, and Paul Steely White, Executive Director of Transportation Alternatives for a lively discussion about how our use and perception of New York’s streets has changed over time.
