And in case you don’t already know…
What is Shareabouts?
Shareabouts is an online mapping tool to gather crowd sourced public input in a social and engaging process. Using Shareabouts, people can drop a pin on a map to provide ideas, suggestions, and comments for planning and design issues. It complements and extends the reach of your existing or future project by collecting input from the people who know the city best. And as a mobile-friendly application, Shareabouts makes it easy to add input on the go.
How can you use Shareabouts?
Here are some examples.
- get data on unsafe locations for pedestrians
- collect support for possible park locations
- get comments on proposed locations for food carts
- collect data about vacant or dilapidated properties
- survey the use of a public space
- explore and comment on a city’s public art on your mobile phone
Who’s already using Shareabouts?
A variety of city agencies and community organizations. For example, Portland’s Bureau of Transportation is collecting suggested locations for the city’s future bike share system. CHEKPEDS is collecting phone booth locations in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC.
We can’t wait to see your proposals. See you at Shareabouts Day!
