While you’re at the New Partners for Smart Growth Conference on Feb 7-9, 2013 in Kansas City, Missouri, be sure to stop by the Technology Fair on Friday at 7AM.
We’re taking part in a demo of planning and engagement tools, with our partners in the Open Source Planning Tools group. The group brings together tool developers and users to demonstrate and discuss their value in smart planning. Frank Hebbert will be there demoing Shareabouts and other online digital planning and participation tools.
From the New Partners program:
Technology Fair: An Interactive Demonstration of Public Engagement Tools for Smart Planning
When: Friday, February 8, 2013 – 7:00-8:30 AM
Where: Lobby Room #2500B, Kansas City Convention Center
Hosted by: PlaceMatters and EPA
Session Description: Pick up your breakfast and take a stroll through the Technology Fair, where you’ll be able to try out cutting edge tools for scenario planning and public engagement and talk to leading tool users and developers about how to put these tools to work for you. Over the past few years, an impressive set of tools has emerged to address a number of planning needs, including:
- mapping and alternative analysis tools to aid planning
- interactive and data-rich 3-D visualization
- online tools and mobile apps to engage stakeholders typically not reached through public meetings
Thanks to the great team at PlaceMatters for putting the Fair together.
