If you live in Chicago, you’re in luck.
As part of its Complete Streets initiative, the Chicago DOT is asking cyclists where they need more bike parking. Using OpenPlans’ Shareabouts, CDOT is soliciting suggestions, and then will track the progress of requests on the site.
Many of the dozens of requests so far have been made by business owners who say their customers are asking for bike racks. Some come from employers whose staff ride to work but can’t park close by. CDOT staff have already responded to suggestions that have previously been approved. Requests for new bike parking can include a photo, to help city staff decide if the spot is suitable.
CDOT are also using Shareabouts to report abandoned bikes that need to be removed.
How does your city handle bike parking and abandoned bike removal requests? Shareabouts can be set up quickly and works well on mobile devices and desktops. Get in touch if this easy solution looks like the right one for you.
